Being from New Orleans, I was exposed to a rich history and culture. I’m protective and proud of my hometown and my African-American heritage. My paintings tell a story that reflect both my sense of imagination and personal experiences of home. There is so much beauty and humor in the horror of American culture and I chase after it. My work revolves around irony and contrasting themes; childishness and violence, home and displacement. I work fast naturally and my movements are evident in my brush strokes and saturated fields of color and line.
